Elementary Student Art

Below are some examples of different art projects I have taught in my Elementary art classroom.

Collaborative Projects

Dia de los Muertos Ofrenda

Students from every grade and multiple subjects created a Dia de los Muertos ofrenda. They exhibited their artwork, poetry, and offerings into an altar honoring their ancestors. Students from 8th grade Spanish classes taught their 4th grade buddies all about the holiday in Spanish and English and celebrated by attending the new movie Coco.

Class Printmaking Projects

3rd and 5th grade students made printing plates according to a theme. Each students printed their piece, adding to the complete project. The 3rd grade project was a end-of-the-year present for their teacher. They created collographs with their initials. The 5th graders used styrofoam to engrave pictures of endangered animals they researched and presented this print to their Science teacher at the end of the year.

After visiting the Baltimore Museum of Art, seeing Al Loving's, large collages, and making individual cardboard sculptures, students worked as groups and used scraps to make shapes and spirals. They colored their pieces with oil pastels and added them all together into a group sculpture creation.
